Sachiko Suda began playing the violin at the age of 6. She studied violin with Takahiro Muroya, but while studying at Toho Gakuen School of Music, she switched to viola and continued her viola studies with Nobuo Okada. After graduating at the top of her class in 1998, she joined the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006 as principal violist. Since 2007, Ms. Suda has been teaching the younger generation at Senzoku Gakuen.
Ms. Suda has won numerous competitions, including the 23rd Premio Vittorio Gui Competition and the 2nd Awajishima Shizuka Hall Viola Competition. Her outstanding performances include that for the Imperial family at their Palace and that at the Viola Space series. She has also performed as soloist with various orchestras including the Osaka Symphoniker.
In 2008, she performed in “Building Friendship Through Music 2008” as one of the trustworthy col-leagues in chamber music performance with Myung-Whun Chung.
