Purpose

Purpose The Hamamatsu International Piano Competition was started in 1991 in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Hamamatsu City, as an international cultural event appropriate to a city that prides itself on its history of musical instruments and music. The Competition is held every three years, with the purpose of fostering young pianists aiming for the world, encouraging the development of music and culture, and promoting international exchanges.
