Application Procedures

Application Procedures

Eligibility

The Competition is open to pianists born on or after January 1, 1982.

Application period

Application forms must arrive at the Secretariat’s office between
February 1 (Wednesday) – March 31 (Saturday), 2012 (Japan time).

Applicants must send the following materials (1) to (5) to the Competition Secretariat.

DVD (in DVD-video format) (See [3. Preliminary Selection])
Two recent glossy color photographs (7 x 10cm, front facing, chest-up)
  • (for use in the program and other promotional materials, write your name on the back)
A copy of the applicant’s passport or other official document that contains his/her name, nationality and birthday
Letters of recommendation from two eminent musicians, one of whom must be specialized in piano. (any format is accepted)

Online application
Applicants must create data files of all the following materials (1) to (5) and send them all by uploading to the Competition’s official website (www.hipic.jp)
Application Form
  • Please note we have changed the format of Application Form which was initially instructed in the Prospectus. Now you can input data directly on the screen rather than downloading an application form to be input in MS-Word or Openoffice.org.
A compressed file containing VIDEO_TS folder stored on the DVD (in DVD-video format) (See [3. Preliminary Selection])
An image file of a recent glossy color photograph (with a resolution of 300dpi or higher, front facing, chest-up)
A PDF file of the applicant’s passport or other official document that contains his/her name, nationality and birthday
A PDF file of letters of recommendation (any format is accepted) from two eminent musicians, one of whom must be specialized in piano

This online application will allow you to upload all required information and recordings onto the application system.
With your own [MY PAGE] created on our website, you can make changes or additions at any time BEFORE the deadline (March 31, 2012).

Notes

  • Any applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete applications or applications which do not contain all accompanying items will not be considered for Preliminary Selection.
  • Application materials will not be returned (when sent by post).
  • Applicants must contact the Secretariat if they should not receive e-mail notifying the receipt of their applications within a week after submission (when sent online).
