Georgy GROMOV Made a Visit to a Local Elementary School .[2003.11.21]

Georgy GROMOVGeorgy GROMOV (Russia) and Vyacheslav GRYAZNOV (Russia) are staying a household of the Kawases, a citizen of Hamamatsu city from the 15th.

GROMOV visited a local elementary school called Ryuzenji Elementary School to have a small concert.
It is the third concert for him in Hamamatsu, following the first one held at the Kawases' on the 18th and the second one held at a local junior high school on the 19th.

A teacher of Ryuzenji Elementary School who went to see another small concert at a local kindergarten called Asokaekimaeminami on the 18th was very impressed and organized this one at the elementary school.

before the performance160 students of the 3rd and the 4th grade first had an opportunity to enjoy the performance in the music classroom. KAWASE said introducing GROMOV before the performance, "It is difficult to pronounce his Russian name, so we call him George. Please call him so." Many hands were raised when a question, "Did you know there was an international piano competition in Hamamatsu?" was asked.

GROMOV performed Sonata No.6 in F major op.10-2 1st movement of Beethoven, Toccata in C major op.7 of Schumann and Etude-tableau in D major op.39-9 by Rakhmaninov.

song from the students150 students of the 5th and the 6th grade students listened to Humoreske op.20 of Schumann. The children paid attention and enjoyed each note.

The students thanked him and gave him a bouquet and a choral song, "Uta o Arigato (Thank you for the music)." The harmony of the children made him very content, so when it is done, he thanked in Japanese, "Arigato."

lunch with studentsThe school-provided lunch for students was prepared for GROMOV and KAWASE and they ate with the children of the 3rd grade. The menu of the day was bread, milk, curry soup, baked potatoes, fries and a tangerine. GROMOV was eating very well. His favorite seemed to be milk as he kept saying, "Good."

The students were nervous at the beginning, but after a while, they were all relaxed and started asking many questions. GROMOV said he started playing the piano when he was six. Maybe one day, we see a pianist among the students today.

Thank you George!
Arigato!
