Dear. Staff members of Secretariat,
This is Wakuda, a host family of Avan Yu. His father left
Japan today, but the 16-year-old guest is planning to enjoy
his stay here alone. That makes me happy.
We went to Kamoe Elementary School of Hamamatsu City, where
my child studies. Avan seemed to find music and art classes
interesting. I could not take great photos, but I will send
you the one of Avan and the vice-principal anyway.
The school is holding a music festival called, "Kamoe Yume
Ipppai Concert (Kamoe full of dreams concert)." The students
are going to play in the morning and individuals will participate
to perform in the afternoon. Avan accepted to perform in the
afternoon program.
We went to the school gym, where the concert will be taken place.
While students were practicing, I asked him to play some. He
performed Flight of the Bumble Bee and the students praised
how great it was. I am happy that he easily accepted my sudden
request.
We are going to have a small home party on the 23rd with my
friends. Avon will perform for us then.
The secretariat offered opportunities to invite contestants
who did not pass the earlier stages. 29 households in Hamamatsu
city and the area near by applied. Their family information
is raised on the board of the office for the contestants to
take a look.
Avan YU was not chosen to move onto the third stage, so he was
looking for a host family. He was here in Japan with his father,
and the Wakudas accepted his father as well. The father left
Japan earlier, but the son decided to stay here until the end
of the competition.
We hope that YU will deepen relations with the Wakudas, the
local schools and the neighbors and make a lot of memories to
bring back home. We also hope that this experience will be a
great one for the Wakudas.
The concert held in Kamoe on the 22nd is open for anybody. YU
will perform in the afternoon.
