What's New

The 3rd day of the 1st Stage.[2003.11.12]

T.KanekoT. KANEKO (Japan) had been given an intravenous drip injection in Tokyo till one day before his performance day, because he caught a bad cold.
"I have taken part in The Hamamatsu International Piano Academy three times before and this is my first participation in the Hamamatsu Competition. As an Asian, I wanted to challenge the biggest competition in Asia. And talking about my age 28, this year is the last chance for me."(*This competition is open to pianists born after January 1, 1975.)
"Because of the bad condition, I stiffened up. I want to do my best for my teacher Mr. P. Lang in Salzburg, Austria, though." he said with husky voice. Take care and good luck!!

R. DescharmesFor R. DESCHARMES (France), this is the first participation in an international competition. It was his teacher Mr. J. ROUVIER , one of the jury of this Competition, who recommended him to participate.
Before the performance, he tried to calm down and concentrate on the beginning of the first piece.
For Chopin which he chose for the first Stage, "I love it!" he said with a big smile.

K.Ifuku "I'm tired! Although there were a few happenings, as a total, it was going OK. I leave it to chance." Said K. IFUKU (Japan) who participated the international competition for the first time. " I would like to feel what the international competition is like. It's going to be a great incentive for me to meet the ambitious pianists from all over the world.
For me the competition and the concert are same in the aspect of playing in front of the audience. I selected the pieces which I love, so that I can play them with affection and the audience can feel it. Chopin's Ballad which I played today is also my favorite."
He is a junior in Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. If he has an opportunity to study abroad in the future, he will go out to perfect his skill.
He is such a cheerful man with a soul.

M.Okamoto M.OKAMOTO (Japan) studying in Cologne now is a prizewinner in some international competition in abroad such as Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition 2003.
She participated in the Hamamatsu Competition in Japan to play as Japanese for the audience and the jury to listen to her piano.
Through the pieces, she would like to express her individuality and her music.
She chose CHOPIN's Concerto No.1 in e minor op.11 for the Final Stage as well as in the Queen Elizabeth. We hope that we can listen to it in Hamamatsu, too.

Y.Morita "I made a big mistake at the very beginning of the first piece though, I tried controlling my mind. Then I could play without fear of mistakes and I was rather excited." said Y.MORITA(Japan) wiping sweat on his hands with his handkerchief.
"I couldn't control myself before, but today I could. In that point, I've grown up. I'm not sure about what I'm going to be in the future but I can say it's something about piano not anything else." he said firmly.
